Thanks for publicizing “Climate Change: The Threat to Life and the New Energy Future” at the American Museum of Natural History. I live just across town from the Museum, but hadn't heard about it. As an advocate for change for healthier & more sustainable energy I'm looking forward to visiting the exhibition. I'll also be sure to alert friends and colleagues about it.

In addition, a big thanks to Denise Cusanelli, who, if I’m not mistaken, originally planted the seed.

Not so sure I could drink coconut water regularly. The few times I've tried it, I didn't like it. ; ( I'm glad that that's not what we now have in the lounge!

Recycled packing material is a great way to go. Thanks for this info. I am going to pass it on to members of our lab.

I've noticed that occasionally in the lounge the tap is left running for quite a while! when it could be shut off. I thought I would provide the following link referring to the need for water conservation (although there are plenty of other sites that refer to this as well).

Maybe we, as a committee, can come up with a top-ten list for the bulletin board in the lounge listing more eco-friendly practices?

Great idea! Thanks for looking into these.

I worked at the Omega Institute last summer for a bit, and they also use all earth-friendly products. I can contact them to see what else they use, to try to come up with some suggestions as to products that we might use that aren't already covered in the above categories.

When I first started here I got a Yale plastic mug thing, and use it often when I go get some water or coffee. Ocassionally, I use my old water bottle container for the same purpose. One colleague noticed what I was doing (putting coffee in a plastic bottle) and was quite surprised. I think a lot of what we can do as individuals is just pay attention to the little ways we can make changes and do them. As in this case, others will see what you are doing and maybe think about ways to re-use items instead of grabbing a disposable cup, using it for a few minutes, then throwing it out.
